BikeTrial Singapore was officially started in 1996 by Mr Ram with the help of President of BikeTrial International Union, Mr Hiroshi Hirano.

The first BikeTrial Singapore National Round was held in 1998 in East Coast Park after which a series of competitions followed on.

Overview, BikeTrial Singapore

1. BikeTrial Singapore is a Union, not a commercial body

2. It is a non-profit organization headed by Mr. Ram, appointed by Mr. Hiroshi Hirano, president of the BikeTrial International Union

3. It is self-sufficient with no sponsors before. -All race fees collected are to finance the set-up and teardown of the competition. No benefits are gained. However, whatever sponsers are available, benefits arising are immediately channelled to the events and individuals involved.

4. It is now a faction of Singapore Sports Council(SSC), therefore it is now the proper channel for all individuals to get to SSC through Singapore Amateur Cycling Association(SACA)

5. Since BikeTrial only became a faction of SSC in year 2000, naturally the budget was not put aside for all (such as BikeTrial, Extreme) events.

6. Sponsorship are disbursed to help all individuals, thus no one should feel that BikeTrial deny any individuals of such subsidies in aid of finances.

7. BikeTrial Singapore Union, with no full time employees is proud to have sport enthusiasts to assist in the administration and set-up of competitions for all participants to take part. These people are self-volunteers and are willing to see the sport grow without getting involved in politics in the bicycling industry

8. BikeTrial Singapore Union operate as a fair Union and neither bear any grudges nor pass bias judgement to individuals that arises out

9. SACA will not deal with individuals (just like any Government body) as authorized powers has been assigned to each Vice President to be in-charge of each faction. Thus, proper hierarchy system is in-place in the SACA Organization.

10. BikeTrial Singapore has been empowered to write to Schools, MINDEF etc in the name of SACA to request for absence from work or school etc.

11. Discipline is the most important factor in the well being of the BikeTrial Sport in order for social acceptance and maximum growth. Thus the BIU for Singapore will do anything in its power to protect this Single-minded goal.
